Indigenous Ph.D. Fellowship Program Phase III

The specific objective of the 5000 Indigenous Scholarship

Scheme is to create a critical mass of highly qualified

human resources in all fields of studies taught at the advanced

level in local universities. These locally qualified academics

and researchers will improve the R&D potential of public as

well as private universities and it will also strengthen th

e local industrial sector.

Eligibility Criteria

a) Pakistani/AJK National

b) For MS/MPhil, the candidates must have minimum of

16 years of education with no 3rd division or Grade D in 

degree/certificate in the entire academic career.

c) Candidates applying for direct PhD scholarships must have minimum CGPA 3.0( out of 4.0 in the semester system) or first division (in the annual system) in MS/MPhil/Equivalent degree is required along with the condition mentioned above in clause (b).

d) Maximum age at the closing date of application i.e. December 15, 2015: i. 40 years for full-time regular faculty members of public sector university/DAIs and regular employee of the public sector/R&D organizations ii. 35 years for all others.

e) The candidates who are already availing any other HEC/Government scholarship are NOT eligible to apply.

Financial Support under Ph.D. Fellowship for 5000 Scholars PHASE-II

Scholar Payment

  1. Stipend to Scholars for 1st 02 years during MS period @ Rs.12, 000/- per month with Rs. 1,000/- increment per year.
    Stipend to Scholars for last 03 years during PhD period @ Rs.18, 000/ per month with Rs. 1,500/- increment per year.

  2.    Book Allowance @ Rs.5000/ p.a.  

  3. Thesis charges @ Rs.10,000/- to scholar (once at completion)

  4. Laptop for Scholars @ PKR 60,000/-  (once)

    Support to University

  1. Tuition fee, reference books, back volumes, chemical abstracts, stationery, software, internet etc. @ RS. 100,000/- p.a.

  2. Support to University during PhD duration (03 years) for lab/workshop equip., consumables and supplies etc. @ RS.  60,000/ p.a.

  3. Thesis evaluation charges to university from abroad on completion. @ Rs. 20000/- (once)

     Grant /Research incentives to Supervisor (BASR approval, PhD completion, thesis submission etc. @ Rs. 150,000/-Maximum

                                                         How to Apply for HEC Indigenous Scholarships:

  1. The applicants who wish to avail this scholarship need to apply online through HEC website eportal.hec.gov.pk.

  2. Original online deposit slip/ATM transfer slip of Rs. 500/- (Non-Refundable) as application processing fee in favor of Director General, Finance, HEC is required during application submission procedure and fee can be deposited through any bank in Account Number 1742-79001334-01, Habib Bank Limited.

  3. The last date for submission of application is May 07, 2018.

  4. Only online applications will be entertained for the selection procedure.

  5. The authority reserves the right to reject or cancel the process at any stage.

  6. The candidates who are availing the scholarship formerly in HEC/ Govt ineligible to apply
